The CLEVELAND C11603 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in metal, aluminum, and similar materials. It is manufactured from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish. The bit features a 135-degree split point, which reduces walking on entry and lowers the thrust needed to start a hole without a center punch. Overall length is 2.25 inches with a 1.25-inch flute length and a straight-cylindrical shank measuring 0.0938 inches in diameter. The two-flute spiral design with a web-thinned, tapered web moves chips efficiently and suits production and maintenance applications. This bit meets NAS 907 Type B standards and is classed as heavy duty.
The C11603 is built for use in residential and light commercial maintenance, mechanical contracting, and fabrication shops. At 3/32 inch (0.0938 inches), it is a common size for pilot holes, small fastener clearance holes, and sheet metal work. Electricians, HVAC technicians, plumbers, and general contractors all use bits in this size range when drilling through sheet steel, aluminum stock, copper, and similar materials. The right-hand spiral cut and regular spiral type make it compatible with standard handheld drills and drill presses. It is sold individually but carries a minimum order quantity of 12 units per the manufacturer packaging structure.
The C11603 is rated for primary use on aluminum and is suitable as a general-purpose HSS jobber-length bit for applications falling within the 0.0500 to 0.1000 inch drill bit size range per the Series 2222 product group.
This bit is installed and used by any trade professional requiring small-diameter metal drilling, including electricians, HVAC technicians, and plumbers. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in a drill chuck before use and verify chuck key is removed before powering the drill. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling ferrous metals to extend bit life. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the bit if chipping or wear is visible on the split point.
