The CLEVELAND C11445 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for precision drilling in hard and abrasive materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiAlN coating, this bit handles elevated cutting temperatures without losing edge integrity. It carries a wire gauge size of 45, which corresponds to a decimal diameter of 0.0820 inches. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust requirements compared to a standard 118-degree point. The parabolic flute geometry improves chip evacuation, making it well-suited for deep-hole applications. Licensed tradespeople working with cast iron, stainless steel, and other difficult alloys are the primary users of this bit.
This drill bit is intended for use in cast iron and stainless steel workpieces in both production and maintenance environments. The parabolic flute design promotes efficient chip removal, which is especially useful when drilling deeper holes where chip packing is a concern. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without requiring special toolholding. It is appropriate for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held pneumatic or electric drills where a wire-gauge bit in this size range is required. The overall length of 2.125 inches and flute length of 1.125 inches fit within standard jobber-length tooling envelopes.
Designed as a jobber-length replacement or production drill bit for applications requiring a wire size 45 (0.0820 inch) diameter bit in cobalt construction. Primary workpiece materials are cast iron and stainless steel per manufacturer specification.
This bit is installed and replaced by machinists, tool and die tradespeople, and maintenance technicians. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the drill chuck before operation and verify runout before cutting into workpiece material. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material where machine setup allows, even though this bit does not support coolant-through delivery. Inspect the cutting edges and coating condition before each use and replace the bit when measurable diameter wear or chipping is detected.
