The CLEVELAND C11435 is a wire gauge size 35 jobber length drill bit designed for demanding metal removal applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with TiAlN, the bit handles elevated cutting temperatures and resists wear when drilling hard ferrous materials. The 135-degree split point reduces walking and cutting force at entry, while the parabolic flute geometry clears chips efficiently throughout the cut. At 2-5/8 inches overall length with a 1-1/2 inch flute, this is a standard jobber proportion suited for general-purpose hole making. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.1100 inches in diameter and seats securely in standard drill chucks. Licensed trades and machining professionals are the primary installers.
This bit is optimized for use on cast iron and stainless steel workpieces where heat buildup and work hardening are common concerns. The TiAlN coating extends tool life significantly compared to uncoated or standard HSS bits in these materials. The parabolic flute design promotes faster chip evacuation in deeper holes, reducing the need for peck-drilling cycles. It is sold individually and applies equally well in handheld drill, drill press, and CNC machining center setups running appropriate speeds and feeds for cobalt tooling in hard metals.
Designed as a direct-fit jobber length drill bit for use in standard 3-jaw drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 0.1100-inch straight shank, conforming to ASME B94.11M and DIN 338 standards.
Installation and use should follow standard machining safety practices. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling and ensure the chuck is tightened completely around the shank. Coolant through is not supported on this bit, so external cutting fluid or mist cooling is recommended when drilling stainless steel or cast iron at sustained depths. Always match spindle speed and feed rate to the workpiece material and bit diameter per published cobalt HSS cutting data.
