The CLEVELAND C11405 is a jobber-length twist drill bit engineered for demanding metal-cutting applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiAlN coating, it handles high-heat drilling in hard alloys, stainless steel, and heat-treated materials where standard HSS bits fail prematurely. The 135-degree split point starts on contact without center-punching and reduces walking on curved or uneven surfaces. At 3.75 inches overall length with a 2.5-inch parabolic flute, the bit clears chips efficiently and maintains accuracy through full-depth passes. It cuts right-hand with a web-thinned, tapered-web configuration for reduced thrust and cleaner hole entry.
This bit is sized at wire gauge No. 5, equivalent to 0.2055 inches decimal diameter. It fits applications requiring precise undersized holes for tapping, reaming, or close-tolerance fits in steel, cast iron, and nickel alloys. The straight-cylindrical shank seats in standard three-jaw drill chucks and collet-style tool holders without modification. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators use this size when working to ANSI tolerances in production and repair environments. Diameter tolerance is held to -0.0007 to 0.0000 inches, consistent with ANSI jobber-length standards.
Designed as an ANSI-specification jobber-length drill bit for use in any drill press, CNC machining center, or hand-held drill with a chuck capacity covering 0.2055-inch straight-cylindrical shanks.
Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before beginning any cut. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling ferrous metals to prolong coating life, even though this bit does not support coolant-through delivery. Inspect the split point for chipping before each use — a damaged point affects hole position and diameter accuracy. Always wear eye protection and secure the workpiece before drilling.
