The CLEVELAND C09764 is a taper length drill bit engineered for general-purpose metal drilling in demanding trade and industrial applications. Built from high-speed steel with a coated finish, it features a 118-degree standard point angle and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration that reduces thrust and improves chip clearance. The bit measures 9/16 inches in diameter, with a 9-inch spiral flute length and a 12-inch overall length, making it well suited for reaching deeper hole depths than jobber-length bits. A straight shank allows it to seat directly in standard drill chucks without adapters. This bit conforms to ASME B94.11M standards and is intended for installation and fabrication work performed by machinists, pipefitters, millwrights, and mechanical contractors.
The C09764 is rated for general-purpose cutting in alloy tool steel, carbon steel, and cast iron. Its regular spiral flute geometry and right-hand cut make it a straightforward drop-in for standard drill press, magnetic drill, or handheld drill driver setups where extended reach is required. The 3-inch shank length and 9/16-inch shank diameter provide consistent grip and reduce runout in chucks sized for that diameter. This bit is packaged individually and is appropriate for both shop use and field service work where a reliable, code-conforming taper length bit is specified.
Rated for cutting alloy tool steel, carbon steel, and cast iron. Fits standard drill chucks accepting a 9/16-inch straight shank. Designed as a general-purpose taper length replacement bit conforming to ASME B94.11M specifications.
Taper length drill bits are typically installed and operated by machinists, pipefitters, or mechanical contractors using drill presses, magnetic base drills, or heavy-duty handheld drills. Secure the straight shank fully in the chuck and verify runout before drilling. Always wear appropriate eye protection and secure the workpiece firmly before operation. Reduce feed rate when breaking through the far side of the material to prevent bit walk or workpiece movement.
