The CLEVELAND C08728 is a taper length high-speed steel drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in metal fabrication and machining applications. The bit measures 7/32 inch (0.2188 inch) in diameter with a 118-degree standard point angle and a 3-5/8 inch spiral flute length for efficient chip evacuation. Overall length is 6 inches. The web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces thrust requirements at entry and improves centering. Right-hand cutting direction and a straight shank make this bit compatible with standard drill chucks. Machinists, maintenance techs, and fabricators reaching for a longer-reach bit for deep-clearance holes will find this a direct fit.
This bit is suited for drilling alloy steel, carbon steel, and cast iron in both production and maintenance environments. The taper length body provides additional reach compared to a jobber-length bit, making it useful when drilling through thick stock or accessing recessed locations. The coated finish helps reduce friction and extends tool life under moderate cutting conditions. It is sold individually and is appropriate for use in drill presses, CNC machines, or hand-held power drills where chuck capacity accommodates a 0.2188 inch straight shank.
Designed for use in alloy steel, carbon steel, and cast iron applications. Fits standard drill chucks accepting a 0.2188 inch straight shank. Part of the Cleveland Series 2510 taper length drill bit line.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals familiar with drill bit selection and cutting parameters. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling and ensure the chuck is fully tightened on the shank before operating. Always wear appropriate eye protection and follow applicable OSHA and shop safety standards when operating drilling equipment. Do not exceed the recommended cutting speed and feed rate for the workpiece material and bit diameter.
