The CLEVELAND C08697 is a taper length, high-speed steel drill bit designed for production and general-purpose drilling in metalworking applications. Built to Series 2510 standards, it carries a No. 17 wire gauge designation with a decimal diameter of 0.1730 inches. The 118-degree standard point angle provides consistent entry on flat and curved stock. A spiral, web-thinned flute design reduces thrust at the cutting edge and improves chip evacuation. The straight shank seats directly into standard drill chucks without adapters. Right-hand cut geometry suits the vast majority of drill press and handheld drilling setups used in machining and fabrication shops.
This bit is rated for general-purpose cutting in alloy steel, carbon steel, and cast iron. The 3-3/8-inch flute length accommodates deeper-than-standard holes without retracting and repositioning as frequently as a jobber-length bit. At 5-3/4 inches overall length, it fits production drilling setups, drill presses, and magnetic-base drills.
