The CLEVELAND C04634 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-volume drilling in metal fabrication, machining, and general industrial applications. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright/uncoated finish, it measures 45/64 inches (0.7031 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 4.75 inches and a flute length of 3.0 inches. The 118-degree standard point angle and web-thinned geometry reduce entry resistance and improve chip evacuation. Right-hand spiral flutes and a straight cylindrical shank make this bit compatible with standard drill chucks and CNC toolholders. It conforms to ASME B94.11M standards and carries a general-purpose grade designation suited for a wide range of metalworking tasks.
This bit is intended for use on alloy steel and aluminum workpieces in production drilling environments. The short, screw machine length body provides increased rigidity compared to jobber-length bits, making it well suited for drill presses, milling machines, and CNC machining centers where tool overhang must be minimized. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in shops that require consistent hole quality in tight tolerances will find this format practical for repetitive through-hole and blind-hole operations. Coolant-through capability is not included, so this bit is intended for dry or externally flood-cooled setups.
Designed for drilling alloy steel and aluminum workpieces. Straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders. Suitable for use in drill presses, manual mills, and CNC machining centers accepting a 0.7031-inch shank diameter.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with rotating cutting tool safety. Secure the shank fully in the drill chuck or collet and verify runout before starting the cut. This bit does not support internal coolant delivery, so apply external flood coolant or cutting oil appropriate for the workpiece material to manage heat and extend tool life. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or inspecting tooling.
