The CLEVELAND C03491 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in metal, aluminum, and similar materials. It is manufactured from high-speed steel (HSS) with a bright, uncoated finish and features a standard 118-degree point angle with a web-thinned, tapered web for improved centering and reduced feed force. The bit has a slow-spiral, two-flute design with a straight-cylindrical shank at 5/64 inch diameter. Overall length is 2 inches, with a flute length of 1 inch. This bit conforms to ASME B94.11M standards and is sized at 0.0781 decimal inch with a diameter tolerance of -0.0005 to 0.0000 inch.
This drill bit is suited for light-duty precision drilling tasks where a small-diameter, jobber-length bit is required. Primary workpiece material is aluminum, though it also handles other soft to medium metals in shop, field, and light fabrication settings. The slow-spiral flute geometry aids chip evacuation in these materials. It is sold individually and is a fit for tradespeople and machinists who need a reliable small-diameter HSS bit that meets ANSI specification designations.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit for use in standard drill chucks accepting a 5/64 inch straight-cylindrical shank, suitable for benchtop drill presses, hand drills, and light machining applications.
Installation and use of small-diameter drill bits should be performed by a qualified machinist or tradesperson familiar with proper chuck securing and drill press setup. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify the bit is running true to avoid breakage at this diameter. No coolant-through capability is present; use appropriate cutting fluid applied externally when drilling metals. Inspect the bit for chipping or wear before each use, as small-diameter HSS bits are susceptible to breakage under side load or misalignment.
