The CLEVELAND C03146 is a jobber-length drill bit sized to Letter X (0.3970 inches) and manufactured from high speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish. It features a 118-degree standard point angle with web thinning for reduced thrust at entry, and a fast spiral flute geometry that efficiently evacuates chips during drilling. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.3970 inches in diameter, making it compatible with standard drill chucks. With an overall length of 5.125 inches and a flute length of 3.75 inches, this bit falls within the jobber-length class and is suited for general-purpose drilling in production and maintenance environments. It conforms to ASME B94.11M and carries an ANSI specification designation.
This drill bit is designed for right-hand cutting and is optimized for use in aluminum as its primary workpiece material, though its general-purpose grade also makes it appropriate for plastics, softer steels, and similar materials in light-duty production drilling. Typical applications include fabrication shops, HVAC equipment manufacturing, plumbing rough-in work, and general metalworking where a reliable jobber-length bit is needed. It is sold individually and is part of the Cleveland Series 2012 line of standard jobber drills.
Designed as an OEM-style general-purpose jobber drill bit conforming to ASME B94.11M; compatible with any standard drill chuck accepting a 0.3970-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals following applicable shop safety procedures. Ensure the drill chuck is properly tightened and the workpiece is securely fixtured before drilling. When drilling aluminum or similar non-ferrous materials, a cutting fluid is recommended to extend bit life and improve hole finish. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace the bit if the point geometry is compromised.
