The CLEVELAND C01805 is a wire gauge size 78 jobber length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in metalworking and light fabrication applications. Manufactured from high speed steel with an oxide coating, it delivers consistent performance across a range of workpiece materials. The bit measures 0.0160 inches in diameter with a 118-degree standard point angle and a two-flute spiral configuration. Overall length is 7/8 inch with a flute length of 3/16 inch. The straight-cylindrical shank diameter matches the cutting diameter at 0.0160 inches, ensuring straightforward chucking in standard drill presses and hand drills. This bit is built to ASME B94.11M and DIN 338 standards.
The C01805 is suited for drilling small-diameter holes in aluminum and similar non-ferrous materials, as well as general-purpose metalworking tasks. Its compact jobber length format is commonly used in production environments, machine shops, and field service work where precision small-diameter drilling is required. The regular spiral flute promotes efficient chip evacuation during operation. The oxide finish provides a degree of surface protection and helps reduce friction at the cutting interface.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber length drill bit for use in standard drill presses, CNC drilling equipment, and handheld drills accepting straight-cylindrical shanks. Optimized for drilling aluminum per Series 2001 general-purpose classification.
Installation of small-diameter drill bits should be performed by a qualified machinist or skilled tradesperson familiar with proper chuck-tightening procedures. Ensure the drilling machine is fully powered down and at a complete stop before inserting or removing the bit from the chuck. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubrication when drilling metals to extend bit life and maintain hole quality. Do not exceed the recommended feed rate or spindle speed for the workpiece material and bit diameter.
