The CLE-LINE C65885 is a round threading die designed to cut external threads on bolts, studs, and rod stock. It is manufactured from high-speed steel (HSS), which maintains cutting edge hardness under the heat generated during threading operations. This die cuts a 5/8-18 UNF right-hand thread and measures 0.5 inches in thickness. The adjustable design allows the operator to fine-tune thread fit by setting the die slightly open or closed relative to nominal pitch diameter. It is used by machinists, tool-and-die workers, pipefitters, and maintenance mechanics in production and repair environments.
The C65885 is suited for threading mild steel, aluminum, brass, and similar machinable materials in fabrication shops, maintenance facilities, and field repair applications. The 5/8-18 UNF designation indicates a fine-pitch thread, commonly found on precision fastener applications where vibration resistance and close fit tolerances are required. This die is part of the CLE-LINE Series 0710 round die lineup and is sold individually.
Designed for use in standard round die stocks that accept this die size and thickness. Verify die stock bore diameter and set-screw configuration before installing.
A licensed machinist or qualified mechanic should install and operate threading dies. Secure the die firmly in the die stock before beginning the threading operation, and apply a cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material to extend die life and improve thread quality. Ensure the workpiece diameter is chamfered at the lead end to allow the die to start squarely. Never force a die that has stopped cutting freely, as this can chip the cutting edges or distort the thread form.
