The CLE-LINE C30508 is a cobalt mechanics drill bit designed for drilling into hard and abrasion-resistant materials. Built to a 1/8 inch diameter with a 135-degree split point, this bit starts on contact without walking and handles the elevated heat and stress common when drilling superalloys and titanium. The gold finish indicates a heat-treated cobalt construction that extends tool life compared to standard high-speed steel bits. Left-hand cut geometry makes this bit particularly useful for extracting broken fasteners, as the cutting action works to back out damaged hardware as it drills. Spiral flutes and a tapered, web-thinned web configuration improve chip evacuation and reduce cutting load.
This bit is intended for professional machinists, HVAC technicians, plumbers, and maintenance tradespeople working with superalloys, titanium, and other materials classified under workpiece material codes H, K, M, P, and S. The mechanics length and straight-cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard drill chucks in hand drills and drill presses. It is particularly well-suited for close-quarters work where a jobber-length bit would be impractical. The overall length of 2-1/4 inches and flute length of 1-1/16 inch support controlled entry depth in tight spaces.
Designed for general-purpose drilling in superalloys and titanium, with primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, P, and S per Series 1880 specifications. Straight-cylindrical 1/8 inch shank fits standard drill chucks.
Install in a compatible drill chuck and verify the shank is fully seated before operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid for superalloy and titanium applications to manage heat buildup and extend bit life. Left-hand cut direction requires a drill set to reverse rotation; confirm rotation direction before engaging the workpiece. Replace the bit if the cutting edges show visible wear, as a dull cobalt bit can work-harden difficult materials and complicate further drilling.
