The CLE-LINE C30505 is a cobalt mechanics drill bit designed for cutting hard and abrasive materials where standard high-speed steel bits fall short. Built to ASME B94.11M standards, this left-hand cut bit features a 135-degree split point that reduces walking and allows clean penetration without a center punch in most applications. The gold finish provides a visual indicator of the cobalt composition. At 2 inches overall length with a 1-inch flute, this is a compact mechanics-length drill suited for work in confined spaces. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks or drill press collets.
This bit is intended for drilling superalloys, titanium, and other difficult-to-machine materials in industrial, maintenance, and fabrication settings. The left-hand cutting direction is particularly useful when drilling out broken fasteners - the rotation tends to back the fastener out as the bit engages, reducing the need for additional extraction tools. Machinists, millwrights, and maintenance mechanics working with high-strength alloys will find this bit appropriate for general-purpose production and repair drilling. It is sold individually but carries a minimum order quantity of 12 units.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks and drill presses accepting a straight-cylindrical shank. Rated for primary workpiece materials including superalloys and titanium per material codes H, K, M, P, and S.
Installation is performed by machinists, millwrights, or maintenance mechanics using a keyed or keyless drill chuck. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and confirm the cutting direction matches the intended left-hand rotation setting on the drill or lathe. When drilling out broken fasteners, ensure the workpiece is secured to prevent rotation. Inspect the bit for chipping or heat discoloration before each use, as cobalt bits subjected to excessive heat can lose hardness at the cutting edge.
