The CLE-LINE C22689 is a high-speed steel jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in steel, cast iron, and similar ferrous materials. It features a 5/32 inch (0.1562 inch decimal) diameter with a standard 118-degree point angle and a black oxide coating that provides basic corrosion resistance and reduces friction during drilling. The straight cylindrical shank measures 5/32 inch in diameter and seats securely in standard drill chucks. With a regular spiral flute and web-thinned tip, this bit is suited for maintenance-grade drilling tasks across fabrication, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical trade applications where a reliable, general-purpose bit is needed.
This bit fits common hand drills, drill presses, and portable electric drills used in residential and light commercial service work. It is sized for tasks such as drilling pilot holes for fasteners, conduit hangers, strap anchors, and sheet metal work. The right-hand cutting direction is standard for all conventional drilling operations. The 2-inch flute length and 3-1/8 inch overall length make it well-suited for through-hole drilling in light-gauge steel, angle iron, and structural channels encountered in typical trade installations.
Designed as a general-purpose OEM-style jobber drill bit for use in standard keyed or keyless drill chucks accepting a 5/32 inch straight shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel and cast iron.
This drill bit is installed and used by HVAC technicians, plumbers, electricians, and general maintenance trades. Always secure the workpiece before drilling and use appropriate eye protection. Run the bit at a speed appropriate for the material and bit diameter - higher speeds suit smaller bits in softer materials, while harder materials require slower speeds and cutting fluid. Inspect the cutting edges before use and replace any bit showing chipping or dullness to avoid workpiece damage or bit breakage.
