The CLE-LINE C18035 is a Letter H jobber-length drill bit built for heavy-duty production and maintenance drilling in steel and cast iron. The bit is manufactured from high speed steel (HSS) with a black/gold oxide coating that reduces friction and extends tool life under continuous use. The 135-degree split point starts on contact without a center punch and reduces walking on hard or scale surfaces. With an overall length of 4.125 inches and a flute length of 2.875 inches, the C18035 fits standard drill chucks and magnetic base drill setups used daily by machinists, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians.
This jobber drill is sized at 0.2660 inches (Letter H decimal equivalent) and is designed for through-hole and clearance drilling in steel, cast iron, and similar ferrous workpiece materials. The regular spiral flute with a tapered web and web-thinned geometry keeps chip evacuation efficient in deeper cuts. The right-hand cutting direction is compatible with all standard drill presses, hand drills, and mag drills running conventional rotation. Series 1878 is a high-performance line conforming to ASME B94.11M and DIN 338 standards, making it suitable for shops that specify dimensionally consistent tooling across multiple setups.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct substitute jobber drill for applications requiring a Letter H (0.2660 inch) straight-shank drill bit in standard 3-jaw drill chucks and compatible toolholding systems. Primary workpiece materials are steel and cast iron per Series 1878 specifications.
A licensed machinist or qualified maintenance technician should install and operate this drill bit in a properly secured drill press, hand drill, or magnetic base drill. Ensure the drill chuck is fully tightened and the workpiece is firmly clamped before starting the spindle. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit, so apply cutting fluid externally when drilling deeper holes in hard steel to manage heat and preserve edge life. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace the bit when the split point shows visible degradation.
