The CHICAGO PNEUMATIC T023186 is a pneumatic angle grinder designed for metalworking, fabrication, and surface preparation tasks in demanding trade environments. It spins a 4-inch wheel at 12,000 RPM and draws 24 CFM of air at 90 psi through a 1/4-inch inlet, making it compatible with standard shop compressor setups. The helical bevel gear drive delivers smooth, consistent power transfer with lower noise than straight-cut gearing. The aluminum alloy housing keeps the tool lightweight without sacrificing rigidity, reducing fatigue during extended use. A rear exhaust port routes spent air away from the workpiece and the operator. Machinists, pipefitters, ironworkers, and general fabricators will find this grinder suited to weld dressing, scale removal, and deburring applications.
This grinder is intended for use with 4-inch Type 27 or Type 1 grinding wheels and compatible depressed-center discs mounted on a 3/8-24 spindle. It fits comfortably into tight spaces where larger 4.5-inch or 5-inch grinders cannot be positioned. At 9 inches overall length and 4.8 pounds, it is well-suited for overhead work, pipe joint prep, and confined structural steel applications. It operates best when supplied with clean, dry, lubricated air at the rated 90 psi inlet pressure.
Designed for use with standard 4-inch grinding wheels and cutting discs mounted on a 3/8-24 threaded spindle, compatible with typical shop air systems supplying 90 psi and adequate volume.
Installation and wheel changes should be performed by a qualified technician following ANSI B7.1 and tool manufacturer guidelines for abrasive wheel mounting. Disconnect the air supply before mounting or removing any wheel. Verify that the wheel speed rating meets or exceeds the 12,000 RPM free speed of the tool before operation. Always use the appropriate guard and personal protective equipment when operating pneumatic grinders.
