The CHICAGO-LATROBE 70208 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in cast iron and steel. The bit is manufactured from high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating that extends cutting edge life and reduces friction during use. It features a 118-degree standard point angle, a 2-flute right-hand spiral flute configuration, and a straight-cylindrical shank. Overall length is 2.75 inches, flute length is 1.625 inches, and the shank diameter matches the drill diameter at 0.125 inches. Web thinning is applied to reduce thrust and improve chip clearance at the cutting tip.
This bit is suited for production and maintenance drilling in ferrous metals including cast iron and steel. The jobber-length format makes it a standard fit in drill presses, hand drills, and right-angle drills used in mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical trade applications. The Series 150T designation places it in the general-purpose tier, appropriate for everyday hole-making tasks where a TiN-coated HSS bit provides an upgrade over uncoated options without the cost of carbide tooling.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit for use in cast iron and steel workpieces. Compatible with any standard 3-jaw chuck accepting a 0.125-inch straight shank.
Install in a properly tightened drill chuck and verify the shank is fully seated before operation. Secure the workpiece firmly to prevent movement during drilling. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling steel to manage heat buildup and prolong cutting edge life. Disconnect power to any drill press or powered equipment before changing bits.
