The CHICAGO-LATROBE 70206 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in steel, cast iron, and similar ferrous materials. Built from high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers extended wear resistance compared to uncoated HSS bits. The 118-degree standard point angle suits a wide range of common drilling applications. At 2.25 inches overall length with a 1.25-inch flute length, this bit fits standard drill chucks and right-angle drill attachments used daily in mechanical and trade work. The straight-cylindrical shank is 3/32 inch in diameter, matching the bit diameter for direct chuck grip. The web-thinned, tapered web geometry reduces thrust requirements at entry.
This bit is suited for drilling in ferrous metals including mild steel and cast iron in residential, commercial, and light industrial settings. Typical applications include sheet metal work, mechanical assembly, HVAC bracket fabrication, and general maintenance drilling. With a 3/32-inch diameter and regular spiral flute, it handles pilot holes, clearance holes, and through-hole drilling in thinner stock. Sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 12 units per order. The Series 150T designation identifies this as part of CHICAGO-LATROBE's general-purpose jobber line conforming to DIN 338 standards.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit suitable for use in standard 3-jaw drill chucks, right-angle drills, and drill presses where a 3/32-inch straight-shank bit is required. Primary workpiece materials are steel and cast iron.
Installation of this bit is performed by licensed tradespeople or qualified technicians using standard drill equipment. Secure the straight shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify chuck key is removed prior to starting the drill. When drilling ferrous metals, use appropriate cutting fluid to reduce heat buildup and extend bit life. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each use and replace bits that show chipping or dulling to maintain hole quality and avoid workpiece damage.
