The CHICAGO-LATROBE 70153 is a jobber-length twist drill bit in wire gauge size 53, with a decimal diameter of 0.0595 inches. It is manufactured from high speed steel and carries a titanium nitride (TiN) coating to extend cutting life and reduce friction during use. The 118-degree standard point angle and web-thinned geometry make it suitable for general-purpose drilling in production and maintenance environments. With an overall length of 1.875 inches and a flute length of 0.875 inches, this bit fits standard drill chucks and is sized for small-diameter through-hole work. It is typically used by machinists, maintenance technicians, and metalworking professionals.
This drill bit is designed for use in cast iron and steel workpieces and fits into standard jobber-length drill applications across light manufacturing, tool and die, and general maintenance settings. The straight-cylindrical shank is compatible with standard three-jaw drill chucks. The regular spiral flute provides efficient chip evacuation in through-hole and blind-hole drilling operations. It conforms to DIN 338, making it a recognized standard-compliant option for metric and inch-equivalent tooling setups. Each package contains one bit, with a minimum order quantity of 12 units.
Designed as an OEM-style general-purpose jobber-length drill bit for use in cast iron and steel. Compatible with any standard three-jaw drill chuck accepting a 0.0595 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Part of the CHICAGO-LATROBE Series 150T.
This bit is installed and used by machinists and maintenance technicians using standard drill presses, hand drills, or CNC drilling equipment. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify concentricity before use. Use appropriate cutting fluid or dry cutting as recommended for the workpiece material to preserve the TiN coating. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace if chipping or wear is observed.
