The CHICAGO-LATROBE 70125 is a jobber-length twist drill bit in wire size 25, with a decimal diameter of 0.1495 inches. Made from high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, this bit is built for general-purpose drilling in metal fabrication and maintenance applications. It features a standard 118-degree split point, a web-thinned and tapered web configuration for improved centering, and a regular spiral flute pattern that promotes chip evacuation. The overall length is 3 inches, and it carries a straight-cylindrical shank for use in standard drill chucks. It complies with DIN 338 dimensional standards.
This drill bit is suited for drilling cast iron and steel in production, repair, and field service environments. The TiN coating reduces friction and extends edge life compared to uncoated HSS bits. The 1.875-inch flute length accommodates typical material thicknesses encountered in structural, mechanical, and light industrial work. Licensed machinists, millwrights, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and electricians all routinely use jobber-length bits of this size for pilot holes, clearance holes, and through-hole drilling in ferrous materials.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with any standard drill press, hand drill, or mill with a chuck capacity that accepts a 0.1495-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Intended for use in cast iron and steel workpieces per the manufacturer specifications for the Series 150T line.
Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a properly sized chuck before use. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling steel to prolong edge life, noting that this bit does not support coolant-through delivery. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the bit if chipping or excessive wear is observed. Drilling speed selection should follow standard HSS speed-and-feed charts for the workpiece material.
