The CHICAGO-LATROBE 70107 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Ground from high speed steel and finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it runs harder and longer between sharpenings than uncoated HSS bits. The wire gauge size is No. 7, corresponding to a decimal diameter of 0.2010 inches. The 118-degree standard point angle suits a wide range of production and maintenance drilling tasks. With an overall length of 3.625 inches and a flute length of 2.4375 inches, this bit fits standard jobber-length drill chucks without an adapter. Web-thinned construction reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation in deeper holes.
This bit is suited for drilling cast iron and steel in residential and commercial maintenance, fabrication, and repair applications. The straight-cylindrical shank seats in standard three-jaw chucks on drill presses, cordless drills, and hand drills. Regular spiral fluting and a tapered web keep chips moving out of the hole during through-drilling. It is a single-piece quantity intended for tool crib stocking or individual technician use. Electricians, pipefitters, HVAC mechanics, and general maintenance trades all reach for No. 7 jobber bits when drilling pilot holes for taps or clearance holes for fasteners.
Designed as a general-purpose OEM-style jobber-length drill bit compatible with any standard three-jaw chuck accepting a straight-cylindrical shank of 0.2010 inches diameter. Primary workpiece materials are cast iron and steel per manufacturer specification.
Seat the shank fully into the chuck and tighten all three jaws evenly before drilling. Power down and lock out the drill press or disconnect cordless tools before changing bits. Use cutting fluid when drilling steel to extend TiN coating life and reduce heat buildup. Inspect the point for chipping or wear before each use; a damaged point should be resharpened or the bit replaced before continuing work.
