The CHICAGO-LATROBE 57216 is a jobber-length drill bit sized at Letter E (0.2500 inches, 1/4 inch), designed for general-purpose drilling in metal, magnesium alloy, and similar materials. Built from high speed steel with an oxide coating for added surface hardness and lubricity, it features a 118-degree split point that reduces walking on entry and requires no center punch on most surfaces. The two-flute spiral design with a regular spiral type and web-thinned, tapered web configuration promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces thrust. With a 4.0-inch overall length and 2.75-inch flute length, this bit fits standard drill chucks used by machinists, HVAC installers, plumbers, and general trade professionals.
The 57216 is a Series 150K general-purpose jobber bit suited for bench drill presses, hand drills, and drill motors across light industrial and trade service applications. Its straight-cylindrical shank (0.2500 inches diameter) seats securely in standard three-jaw chucks without slippage. Right-hand cut geometry matches conventional drill motor rotation. Typical applications include drilling clearance holes in sheet metal, structural brackets, tubing, and magnesium alloy components. This bit does not support coolant-through use and is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 12 units.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement jobber-length drill bit in the CHICAGO-LATROBE Series 150K line, compatible with any standard drill chuck accepting a 0.2500-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Install and remove drill bits only with the drill motor powered off and unplugged or the trigger locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and tighten all jaws evenly before use. Wear eye protection during all drilling operations. Do not force the bit or run it beyond its rated material application, as overheating will reduce temper and shorten service life.
