The bit carries a 19/32-inch (0.5938 inches) cutting diameter with a reduced 1/2-inch straight-cylindrical shank, allowing it to seat in standard 1/2-inch chucks even though the cutting diameter exceeds that size. Ground from high speed steel (HSS) with a coated finish for added wear resistance, the 55438 features a 118-degree standard point angle and a right-hand spiral flute geometry suited to a wide range of workpiece materials. It belongs to the Chicago-Latrobe Series 190 line and is typically installed by machinists, maintenance mechanics, ironworkers, and general contractors.
The 55438 is built for portable drilling applications across residential and light industrial settings.
