The CHICAGO-LATROBE 54043 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit in wire gauge size 33, with a decimal diameter of 0.1130 inches. It is finished with a Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating that improves surface hardness and extends tool life in high-cycle applications. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust requirements, making it well-suited for hard, tough materials. With an M42 cobalt high-speed steel construction and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration, this bit is rated for heavy-duty use. It is sold individually and is appropriate for shop and field use by machinists, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians.
This bit is designed for drilling stainless steel and steel in applications requiring tight diameter tolerance and consistent performance. The 135-degree split point and TiN coating make it particularly effective on work-hardening materials like austenitic stainless steel. It fits standard drill chucks accepting a 0.1130-inch straight-cylindrical shank and is suited for both hand-held and drill-press setups in production and maintenance environments. The Series 2550 designation identifies it within the CHICAGO-LATROBE line as a high-performance cobalt jobber drill conforming to DIN 338 and NAS 907 Type J standards.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use jobber drill for applications requiring a wire gauge size 33 (0.1130 inch) bit in stainless steel or steel. Fits any standard drill chuck or collet accepting a 0.1130-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using a standard drill press, mill, or hand drill. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify chuck key is removed prior to starting the spindle. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling stainless steel to manage heat buildup, as this bit does not support coolant-through delivery. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace if chipping or wear is observed to maintain hole tolerance.
