The CHICAGO-LATROBE 54039 is a cobalt jobber length drill bit designed for heavy-duty metal drilling applications. It carries a wire gauge size of 29, equivalent to 0.1360 inches in decimal diameter, and features a 135-degree split point for fast, self-centering starts with minimal walking. The M42 cobalt high-speed steel construction is finished with a Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating to extend tool life and reduce friction in tough materials. The two-flute spiral design with a web-thinned, tapered web improves chip evacuation and reduces thrust. Overall length is 2.875 inches with a flute length of 1.75 inches.
This drill bit is built for cutting stainless steel and other hard ferrous metals where standard HSS bits fail prematurely. It is suited for production and maintenance environments in industrial, mechanical, and trade settings. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard three-jaw chucks and quick-change systems.
