The CHICAGO-LATROBE 53925 is a heavy-duty jobber length drill bit designed for drilling into steel alloy and similarly tough ferrous materials. Built from high speed steel and finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, the 53925 delivers extended tool life and reduced friction during high-cycle drilling operations. The 135-degree split point starts on contact without walking, eliminating the need for a center punch on flat stock. At 6 inches overall length with a 4.5-inch parabolic flute, this bit suits standard drill presses, hand drills, and CNC drilling setups where consistent hole quality in metal is required. It is sized at 0.5000 inches in diameter with a straight-cylindrical shank of equal diameter for direct chuck mounting.
The 53925 is suited for industrial maintenance, fabrication, and mechanical contracting applications where drilling into steel alloy is routine. The parabolic flute geometry accelerates chip evacuation, which is especially useful in deep-hole drilling or in setups without coolant-through capability. Machinists, millwrights, pipefitters, and general maintenance technicians working in commercial and industrial environments will find this bit appropriate for standard metal drilling tasks. It is sold individually and is part of the Series 150DHT heavy-duty line.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit jobber length drill bit within the CHICAGO-LATROBE Series 150DHT line, suitable for use in any standard drill press, hand drill, or CNC machine accepting a 0.5000-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation is performed by machinists, millwrights, or maintenance technicians using a standard 3-jaw or collet chuck. Secure the shank fully into the chuck before beginning any drilling operation and confirm the workpiece is firmly clamped or fixtured. No coolant-through capability is present on this bit; apply cutting fluid externally when drilling deep holes or when workpiece temperatures are a concern. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace the bit if diameter tolerance is outside the specified range of -0.0010 to 0.0000 inches.
