It measures 7/32 inch (0.2188 inch decimal) in diameter with a 3-3/4 inch overall length. The bit features a 135-degree split point for fast, self-centering entry that reduces walking on hard surfaces without a center punch. A titanium nitride (TiN) coating increases surface hardness and reduces friction, extending tool life in production environments. The parabolic flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation, making it well suited for deep-hole work in tough materials. This bit is intended for use by machinists, pipefitters, electricians, and other trade professionals who require consistent, accurate hole size in metal fabrication and installation work.
The 53907 is designed for right-hand cutting in steel alloy as the primary workpiece material, though its TiN-coated high speed steel construction also handles cast iron, aluminum, and similar metals encountered in general trade work. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard 3-jaw drill chucks on corded drills, drill presses, and magnetic base drills. The 2-1/2 inch flute length provides adequate chip clearance for the jobber-length application range. With a shank diameter matching the cutting diameter at 7/32 inch, the bit fits any chuck capable of accepting that size. A licensed machinist or qualified trade professional should select cutting speed and feed rate appropriate for the workpiece material before drilling. Secure the workpiece firmly before starting the cut, and ensure the drill chuck is tightened on all three jaws to prevent bit slippage. Apply cutting fluid when drilling steel alloy to reduce heat and extend bit life. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each use and replace the bit if the TiN coating is fully worn through at the tip.
