The CHICAGO-LATROBE 50835 is a cobalt screw machine length drill bit designed for heavy-duty drilling in ferrous metals, cast iron, and steel. It carries a 135-degree split point that reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust requirements compared to standard 118-degree geometry. The web-thinned, parallel web configuration supports consistent chip evacuation through two spiral flutes. At 2-5/8 inches overall length with a 1-7/16-inch flute length, this stubby-profile bit fits drill presses and CNC applications where rigidity is critical. It is manufactured from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, giving it heat resistance suitable for interrupted cuts and abrasive workpieces. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in standard drill chucks without adapters.
This bit is sized at letter F (0.2570 inches decimal equivalent) and falls within the 0.2500 to 0.3000 inch diameter range of the Series 559 line. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a keyed or keyless drill chuck rated for the intended spindle speed before operation.
