The CHICAGO-LATROBE 49219 is a screw machine length drill bit engineered for heavy-duty metal drilling applications. Built from high speed steel with a coated finish, it measures 19/64 inch (0.2969 inches) in diameter and carries a 135-degree split point for fast, self-centering starts with minimal walking. The shortened screw machine length profile keeps rigidity high and deflection low in stub-reach drilling setups. With a web-thinned, parallel-web construction and two spiral flutes in a right-hand cut, this bit is designed for production environments where throughput and hole quality both matter. It meets NAS 907 and ISO standards and is classified under Series 159 heavy-duty tooling.
This bit is suited for drilling cast iron and steel in both production machining and maintenance repair operations. Screw machine length bits are commonly used in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and turret lathes where a shorter-than-jobber profile is required for rigidity and close-tolerance hole location. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without modification.
