The CHICAGO-LATROBE 47875 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for demanding drilling applications in stainless steel and hardened materials. It features a 135-degree split point that reduces walking and lowers thrust requirements at entry, making it well suited for hard, work-hardening alloys. The bit measures 6.50 mm (0.2559 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 101.00 mm (3.9764 inches) and a flute length of 63.00 mm (2.4803 inches). A straw finish indicates the cobalt content and heat treatment level. The straight cylindrical shank seats cleanly in standard three-jaw chucks. This is a heavy-duty grade bit built to NAS 907-B specification, appropriate for machinists, maintenance mechanics, and metalworking tradespeople.
This drill bit is intended for metal drilling in industrial and maintenance environments where conventional high-speed steel bits lose cutting edge quickly. Primary applications include stainless steel fabrication, hardened steel components, and any material that generates significant heat at the cutting zone. The regular spiral flute and web-thinned, tapered web geometry support efficient chip evacuation in deep-hole drilling. It operates in standard drill presses, CNC machining centers, and handheld drill motors where a straight-shank bit is appropriate. The right-hand cutting direction is compatible with all standard forward-rotation spindles.

Installation is performed by machinists or qualified maintenance mechanics. Secure the shank fully in the chuck and verify runout before drilling. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing bits. Do not exceed the recommended feed and speed parameters for cobalt tooling in the target material, and avoid side-loading the bit, which can cause breakage in hard alloys.
