The CHICAGO-LATROBE 47835 is a cobalt jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. Built to NAS 907 Type B standards, this Series 550ASP bit features a 135-degree split point that reduces walking and lowers thrust requirements at entry. The 2.50 mm diameter and straight cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard drill chucks. A straw-colored coating indicates the cobalt content and heat treatment process. Right-hand spiral flutes with web thinning promote efficient chip evacuation. This bit is suited for machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators working with tough or abrasive materials on production floors or in field environments.
This drill bit is engineered for cutting stainless steel and hardened materials where standard high-speed steel tooling loses its edge. The cobalt construction sustains hardness at elevated temperatures generated during aggressive feed rates. Typical applications include drilling 300-series and 400-series stainless steel, hardened alloys, and similar difficult-to-machine workpieces. The 2-flute regular spiral geometry provides reliable chip clearance in both through-hole and blind-hole operations. This bit is sold individually but carries a minimum order quantity of 12 units per order.
Designed as a heavy-duty OEM-style jobber drill for use with standard drill chucks accepting a 2.50 mm straight shank, conforming to NAS 907 Type B specification in the Series 550ASP line.
This bit is installed by machinists and maintenance technicians in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held pneumatic or electric drills. Ensure the chuck is fully tightened and the workpiece is firmly secured before beginning a cut. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling stainless steel or hardened materials to extend tool life and manage heat. Diameter tolerance is +0.0000 to -0.0005 inches, so verify fit requirements before use in close-tolerance applications.
