The CHICAGO-LATROBE 47741 is a cobalt jobber length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in hard and abrasive materials. It carries a No. 7 wire size designation with a decimal diameter of 0.2010 inches and an overall length of 3.625 inches. The 135-degree split point reduces walking and requires less feed pressure at entry, making it well suited for production and maintenance drilling where precision and speed matter. The two-flute regular spiral design with a web-thinned, tapered web improves chip evacuation and reduces thrust in tough materials. This bit is intended for use by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and skilled tradespeople working with demanding workpiece materials.
The 47741 is rated for drilling titanium and other high-strength materials where standard high-speed steel bits fall short. The cobalt construction provides heat resistance during extended or high-feed drilling operations. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard three-jaw chucks and collet-style drill holders commonly found on drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held industrial drills. With a flute length of 2.4375 inches and a shank length of 1.1878 inches, it provides adequate chip clearance for moderate-depth holes in its size range. It meets NAS 907 Type B standards, making it appropriate for aerospace and defense-adjacent applications where specification compliance is required.
