The CHICAGO-LATROBE 47321 is a high speed steel jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose hole-making in steel and cast iron. It measures 8.20 mm (0.3228 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 117.00 mm (4.606 inches) and a flute length of 75.00 mm (2.953 inches). The 118-degree standard point angle provides clean entry on flat and curved workpiece surfaces. A black oxide finish improves lubricity and offers moderate corrosion resistance during storage and service. The straight cylindrical shank seats securely in standard three-jaw drill chucks, and the two-flute regular spiral geometry clears chips efficiently during moderate-feed drilling operations. This bit is manufactured to DIN 338 tolerances, with a diameter tolerance of -0.0010 to 0.0000 inches, making it suitable for precision location drilling where close-fit holes are required.
This jobber drill is suited for use in metalworking environments including fabrication shops, maintenance and repair operations, and production drilling of ferrous metals. Primary workpiece materials include steel and cast iron, making it a dependable choice for HVAC bracket fabrication, electrical panel knockouts in metal enclosures, and mechanical assembly applications. The general-purpose grade and DIN 338 standard design mean it fits conventional benchtop drill presses, hand-held electric drills, and CNC machining centers with compatible chuck sizes. It is sold individually but requires a minimum order of 6 units per purchase.
Designed as a general-purpose DIN 338 jobber drill for use in any standard drill chuck accepting a 0.3228-inch straight shank; primary workpiece materials are steel and cast iron.
This drill bit is installed and operated by machinists, maintenance technicians, and trade professionals using benchtop or handheld drilling equipment. Before mounting, ensure the drill press or handheld drill is powered off and the chuck key is removed. Secure the straight shank fully into the chuck and tighten evenly using the chuck key before drilling. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling ferrous metals to extend bit life and maintain hole quality.
