The CHICAGO-LATROBE 46714 is a cobalt jobber length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in hard and abrasive materials. Sized to wire gauge No. 44 (0.0860 inches decimal), this bit features a 135-degree split point that reduces walking and requires no center punch on most surfaces. The gold oxide coating improves lubricity and heat resistance during cutting. Built to Series 550 standards and conforming to DIN 338 and NAS 907 Type J specifications, this is a heavy-duty tool suited for production and maintenance drilling applications. It is installed and used by machinists, HVAC technicians, plumbers, electricians, and other trades requiring precision small-diameter drilling in tough base materials.
The 46714 is engineered for drilling titanium and other high-strength metals where standard high-speed steel bits fall short. The M42 cobalt alloy construction handles elevated cutting temperatures without losing hardness. With a 2-1/8-inch overall length and 1-1/8-inch flute length, this bit is suited for typical jobber-depth holes in sheet stock, structural members, and mechanical assemblies.
