The CHICAGO-LATROBE 45702 is a jobber length drill bit in wire gauge size 32, measuring 0.1160 inches in diameter. Built from high speed steel with an oxide coating, it features a 135-degree split point that reduces walking and allows faster penetration without a center punch. The spiral flute design with a regular helix and tapered web promotes efficient chip evacuation. With an overall length of 2.75 inches and a straight-cylindrical shank, this bit is designed for use in standard drill chucks. It is a heavy duty grade tool manufactured to NAS 907 Type B standards and is well suited for HVAC, mechanical, and fabrication tradespeople who require consistent, close-tolerance drilling in demanding materials.
The 45702 is intended for drilling cast iron, stainless steel, and carbon steel in production and maintenance environments. Its 135-degree split point geometry is particularly effective on hard or work-hardening materials like stainless steel where a conventional 118-degree point would require greater feed force. The 1.625-inch flute length accommodates typical jobber-depth holes in sheet stock, structural members, and machine components. This bit is sold individually and is appropriate for use in handheld drills, drill presses, and CNC equipment.
Designed for use in cast iron, stainless steel, and steel workpieces. Straight-cylindrical shank fits standard 3-jaw drill chucks on handheld drills, drill presses, and compatible CNC spindles accepting a 0.1160-inch shank diameter.
Install and remove drill bits only with the drill or press powered off and the chuck fully secured. A drill press or guided fixture is recommended for accurate hole placement at this small diameter to prevent bit deflection or breakage. When drilling stainless steel or cast iron, use appropriate cutting fluid and maintain consistent feed pressure to avoid work hardening or overheating the cutting edge. Follow applicable shop safety practices and wear appropriate eye protection during all drilling operations.
