The CHICAGO-LATROBE 45307 is a high speed steel (HSS) jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in metalworking, fabrication, and maintenance applications. It measures 7.00 mm (0.2756 inches) in diameter with a 118-degree radial point angle and a bright, uncoated finish. The two-flute regular spiral design promotes efficient chip evacuation. Overall length is 109.00 mm (4.2913 inches) with a 69.00 mm (2.7165-inch) flute length. The straight cylindrical shank measures 7 mm (0.2969 inches) in diameter. Built to DIN 338 standards, this bit is suited for machinists, millwrights, and trade professionals who need a reliable general-purpose drill for everyday production or repair work.
The 45307 is optimized for drilling aluminum and non-ferrous materials, though its general-purpose HSS construction handles a broad range of soft to medium-hardness workpieces. The web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces entry resistance, making it well suited for hand-held drill motors, drill presses, and benchtop milling setups. The right-hand cutting direction is standard for all common rotating spindle equipment. Maximum drilling depth reaches 3.4375 inches, covering most standard jobber-depth applications in sheet metal, structural profiles, and castings.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber drill bit suitable for use in standard drill chucks, drill presses, and CNC drilling equipment that accept straight-cylindrical shank tooling in the 7 mm diameter range.
This drill bit is installed and used by machinists, millwrights, maintenance technicians, and general tradespeople. Secure the straight shank firmly in a keyed or keyless chuck before operation and verify the workpiece is clamped or fixtured to prevent movement. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubrication when drilling metals to extend tool life and maintain hole quality. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace the bit if the point shows signs of dulling or damage.
