The CHICAGO-LATROBE 44735 is a jobber length drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding trade and industrial applications. Built from high speed steel with an oxide coating, this bit carries a wire gauge size of 65, equivalent to 0.0350 inches in decimal diameter. The 135-degree split point with web thinning reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust requirements, making it a reliable choice for tight-tolerance work. At 1.5 inches overall length with a 0.625-inch flute length, this is a compact, heavy-duty bit suited for machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators working in confined spaces or on small-diameter hole applications.
This bit is appropriate for drilling cast iron, stainless steel, and carbon steel in both shop and field environments. The straight-cylindrical shank seats cleanly in standard drill chucks and collet holders without slipping under torque. The regular spiral flute geometry promotes chip evacuation in both hand-held and machine-mounted drilling setups. It meets NAS 907 Type B standards, making it suitable for aerospace-adjacent and precision manufacturing workflows where conformance to specification is required.
Designed for use in cast iron, stainless steel, and steel workpieces. Compatible with standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 0.0350-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Conforms to NAS 907 Type B specification.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with drill press, CNC, or hand-drill operation. Secure the workpiece before drilling and verify chuck or collet grip on the shank before applying power. At this diameter, low feed rates and appropriate cutting fluid for stainless steel or cast iron applications will extend tool life and reduce the risk of bit breakage. Always wear appropriate eye protection when operating rotary cutting tools.
