The CHICAGO-LATROBE 44299 is a jobber length drill bit in wire gauge size No. 29, with a decimal diameter of 0.1360 inches. It is manufactured from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish and features a standard 118-degree split point with web thinning for improved centering on entry. The bit runs a two-flute regular spiral configuration with a straight-cylindrical shank, giving it a secure, repeatable grip in standard drill chucks. Overall length is 2.875 inches with a flute length of 1.75 inches. It conforms to DIN 338 standards. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and metalworking tradespeople use this bit for general-purpose through-hole and pilot-hole drilling in production and field applications.
This drill bit is suited for drilling non-ferrous metals and similar materials in general-purpose applications. The Series 150D design targets production environments and maintenance shops where consistent hole quality and diameter accuracy are required. The diameter tolerance range of -0.0007 to 0.0000 inches keeps finished holes within close limits, making it appropriate for fastener clearance holes and tapped pilot holes. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 12 units, making it practical for shop stock replenishment.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber length drill bit compatible with standard drill chucks and drill presses, CNC drilling operations, and handheld power drills that accept straight-cylindrical shanks in this diameter range.
Install in a standard three-jaw chuck, collet, or drill press chuck rated for the shank diameter before beginning any drilling operation. Secure the workpiece firmly to prevent movement during the cut. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling metals to extend tool life and maintain hole quality. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace if the point shows signs of dulling to avoid oversized or out-of-round holes.
