The CHICAGO-LATROBE 44275 is a jobber length drill bit in wire gauge size 5, equivalent to 0.2055 inches in diameter. Made from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, this bit features a standard 118-degree split point and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration for improved penetration and reduced walking on entry. The spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation during drilling operations. With an overall length of 3-3/4 inches and a flute length of 2-1/2 inches, this bit fits standard keyless and keyed chucks in drill presses, hand drills, and CNC equipment. It is suited for machinists, tool-and-die workers, and maintenance technicians working with non-ferrous metals and general-purpose materials.
The 44275 is designed for general-purpose drilling in non-ferrous metals and similar workpiece materials. Its straight-cylindrical shank with a diameter of 0.2055 inches seats reliably in standard drill chucks without slippage. The regular spiral flute pattern and right-hand cutting direction make this bit compatible with conventional clockwise-rotating spindles found on most bench-top and floor drill presses as well as portable hand drills. Typical applications include fabrication shops, HVAC mechanical installations requiring sheet metal or bracket work, plumbing rough-in, and general maintenance drilling tasks where a wire-gauge bit is specified.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber length drill bit compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks on drill presses, hand drills, and CNC machines requiring a wire size 5 or 0.2055-inch diameter bit.
This bit is installed by a machinist or qualified tradesperson into a standard drill chuck; ensure the chuck is fully tightened and the spindle is at a complete stop before inserting or removing the bit. Always wear appropriate eye protection and secure the workpiece firmly before beginning drilling. Do not exceed the recommended RPM range for the bit diameter and workpiece material combination as specified by the tool manufacturer. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and remove the bit from service if chipping, cracking, or excessive wear is observed.
