The CHICAGO-LATROBE 44119 is a wire gauge No. 49 jobber length drill bit manufactured from high speed steel with an oxide coating. At 0.0730 inches in diameter and 2 inches overall length, it is built for general-purpose drilling in ferrous materials including cast iron and steel. The 118-degree standard point angle and web-thinned tip promote accurate entry and reduce walking on starting. The spiral flute design with right-hand cut provides efficient chip evacuation during through-hole and blind-hole drilling. This bit suits production and maintenance applications where consistent small-diameter hole quality is required.
The 44119 is designed for use in drill presses, CNC drilling operations, and hand-held power drills where precision small-bore holes are needed. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron and steel, making it a common choice for machine shops, fabrication environments, and industrial maintenance settings. The straight-cylindrical shank ensures positive chuck grip across standard keyless and keyed drill chucks. Series 150 construction meets DIN 338 standards for jobber length drill bits.
Designed as an OEM-style general-purpose jobber length drill bit suitable for use in standard drill chucks accepting straight-cylindrical shanks in the 0.0500 to 0.1000 inch diameter range.
Installation and use of this bit should be performed by machinists or trade professionals familiar with small-diameter drill bit handling. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a keyed or keyless chuck before operation and verify spindle runout is within acceptable limits to avoid bit breakage at this diameter. Coolant through is not supported on this bit, so apply cutting fluid externally when drilling steel to extend tool life. Follow shop safety protocols and applicable OSHA machine guarding requirements when operating drill presses or power drills.
