The CHICAGO-LATROBE 44095 is a jobber-length drill bit in wire gauge size No. 25, with a decimal diameter of 0.1495 inches. Manufactured from high speed steel with an oxide coating, it features a 118-degree standard point angle and a regular spiral flute for efficient chip evacuation. The straight-cylindrical shank and 3-inch overall length make it compatible with standard drill chucks across a wide range of portable and bench-mounted drilling equipment. It is designed for general-purpose metal drilling and is web-thinned to reduce thrust and improve penetration. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and metalworking tradespeople are the primary users of this bit.
The 44095 is suited for drilling cast iron and steel in general-purpose shop, field, and maintenance applications. Its 1-7/8-inch flute length provides adequate chip clearance for typical through-hole depths encountered in those materials. The 2-flute spiral configuration maintains cutting efficiency in both manual and machine-fed operations. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional drill press and hand-drill use. This bit conforms to DIN 338, the widely recognized standard for jobber-length twist drills, ensuring dimensional consistency with replacement tooling programs.
Designed as an OEM-style general-purpose jobber drill bit for use in standard drill presses, CNC drilling operations, and hand-held drills where a No. 25 wire gauge diameter is specified. Primary workpiece materials are cast iron and steel.
Install in a compatible drill chuck, ensuring the shank is fully seated and the chuck is tightened securely before operation. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling to prevent movement and bit deflection. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling steel to extend tool life and maintain dimensional accuracy. Follow applicable shop safety and machine guarding practices when operating drilling equipment.
