The CHICAGO-LATROBE 44035 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in cast iron and steel. Built from high speed steel with an oxide coating, it delivers reliable performance in the hands of machinists, pipefitters, ironworkers, and other trade professionals who need consistent, repeatable holes. The bit measures 35/64 inch (0.5469 inch decimal) in diameter and runs 6-5/8 inches overall, with a 4-13/16-inch flute length. The 118-degree standard point angle suits a wide range of ferrous materials and is the workhorse geometry found in most trade shops.
The 44035 is suited for use on drill presses, magnetic base drills, and hand-held power drills where a straight-cylindrical shank is required. Typical applications include drilling bolt-hole patterns, conduit knockouts in steel enclosures, pipe flange work, and structural steel fabrication. Its right-hand cut and two-flute spiral geometry promote chip evacuation during through-hole drilling in steel plate and cast iron components. The Series 150 designation places this bit in the standard jobber-length class, which is the most common format stocked in trade environments.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit compatible with any drill press, magnetic base drill, or portable power drill equipped with a standard chuck sized to accept a 35/64-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials are cast iron and steel.
Installation is performed by machinists, ironworkers, pipefitters, or maintenance mechanics using standard drill equipment. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling and ensure the chuck is fully tightened on the shank before operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid when drilling steel to extend bit life and improve hole quality. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each use and replace the bit if the point shows signs of chipping or excessive dulling.
