The CHICAGO-LATROBE 43627 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for heavy-duty metal drilling in professional trade and industrial machining applications. Built from M7 high speed steel and finished with a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating, this bit delivers extended tool life and heat resistance compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on hard surfaces and requires less feed pressure at entry. With a 27/64-inch diameter (0.4200 inches decimal) and a 5-3/8-inch overall length, this bit fits standard jobber-length drill chucks and is sized for production or service-bay use where precision hole sizing matters.
This drill bit is suited for cutting cast iron, stainless steel, and carbon steel in both shop and field settings. The right-hand spiral flute design evacuates chips efficiently during through-hole and blind-hole drilling. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard three-jaw chucks on drill presses, hand drills, and CNC drilling equipment. Apply appropriate cutting fluid when drilling stainless steel or hardened steel to reduce heat buildup and extend bit life.
