Product Description

The CHICAGO-LATROBE 43619 is a jobber-length twist drill bit designed for high-performance metal drilling in demanding trade applications. Built from M7 high speed steel with a TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) coating, it delivers extended tool life and heat resistance compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The bit measures 19/64 inch (0.2969 inch decimal) in diameter with a 135-degree split point that reduces walking and allows drilling to start without a center punch. Overall length is 4-3/8 inches with a 3-1/16 inch flute length. This is a heavy-duty grade bit suited for machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators working with ferrous and stainless materials.

The 43619 is rated for use on cast iron, stainless steel, and carbon steel. Its right-hand spiral flute design provides efficient chip evacuation, making it well suited for production drilling, repair work, and field fabrication. The straight cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks without requiring a specialized holder, simplifying use in handheld drills, drill presses, and CNC drilling operations. It complies with NAS 907 Type B standards, making it appropriate for aerospace-adjacent and industrial maintenance applications where specification conformance matters.

Key Features

  • TiCN coating increases surface hardness and reduces friction for longer tool life in hard metals
  • 135-degree split point reduces thrust force and eliminates center-punch requirement on most metals
  • M7 high speed steel construction handles interrupted cuts and high-heat drilling conditions
  • Web-thinned, tapered web design improves cutting efficiency and chip flow
  • Right-hand, regular-spiral flute geometry provides reliable chip evacuation in through-hole drilling
  • Meets NAS 907 Type B specification for use in controlled industrial and aerospace maintenance environments

Compatibility

Designed for drilling cast iron, stainless steel, and carbon steel workpieces. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard 3-jaw drill chucks on handheld drills, drill presses, and CNC machining centers. Part of the CHICAGO-LATROBE Series 150ASP-TC line of TiCN-coated jobber-length drill bits.

Installation Notes

This bit is installed and operated by machinists, maintenance technicians, and metal fabricators. Secure the shank fully in the drill chuck before operation and verify chuck key is removed before starting the spindle. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling stainless steel or cast iron to manage heat buildup, as coolant-through is not supported on this bit. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace when dulling is apparent to avoid work hardening the workpiece surface.
