The CHICAGO-LATROBE 41795 is a jobber-length drill bit sized at Letter Y (0.4040 inches) and manufactured from high-speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust requirements compared to standard 118-degree points. A web-thinned, tapered web design further improves chip evacuation and cutting efficiency. Overall length is 5.25 inches with a 3.875-inch spiral flute length. This bit is designed for heavy-duty, high-performance drilling applications and conforms to NAS 907 Type B standards. Licensed tradespeople and machining professionals working in production or maintenance environments are the primary users.
This drill bit is suited for cutting cast iron, stainless steel, and steel. The TiN coating extends tool life by reducing surface friction and heat buildup at the cutting edge. The straight-cylindrical shank with a 1.375-inch diameter accepts standard drill chucks used in hand drills, drill presses, and CNC setups. Regular spiral fluting with right-hand cut makes it compatible with conventional clockwise-rotation machines. It performs well in both intermittent and continuous cutting scenarios common in fabrication, maintenance, and manufacturing settings.
Designed as an OEM-style jobber-length drill bit compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks on hand drills, drill presses, and CNC machines. Primary workpiece materials listed include cast iron, stainless steel, and steel.
Installation is performed by machinists, maintenance technicians, or trade professionals operating rotating equipment. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully into the drill chuck and tighten before operation. Always wear appropriate eye protection and secure the workpiece before drilling. Do not exceed the rated RPM for the bit diameter and material being cut, and apply cutting fluid when drilling stainless steel or other hard ferrous materials to manage heat buildup.
