The CHICAGO-LATROBE 41777 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in ferrous metals and hard materials. Sized at Letter G (0.2610 inches decimal), it features a 135-degree split point that reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust requirements compared to a conventional 118-degree point. The flutes are spiral with a regular helix, running 2.875 inches in length along a 4.125-inch overall body. The TiN (Titanium Nitride) coating increases surface hardness and extends tool life in production drilling applications. The two-flute design promotes efficient chip evacuation. This bit is built to NAS 907 Type B standards and is classified as heavy duty grade, making it a dependable choice for licensed tradespeople and machining professionals.
This drill bit is suited for drilling cast iron, stainless steel, and carbon steel in both shop and field environments. The straight-cylindrical shank with a 0.2610-inch diameter seats securely in standard drill chucks. Apply appropriate cutting fluid when drilling stainless steel or other work-hardening alloys to maintain bit temperature and edge life. Do not exceed the recommended RPM range for the material and bit diameter, and avoid excessive feed pressure that can deflect or snap a jobber-length bit.
