The CHICAGO-LATROBE 41713 is a jobber length drill bit in wire gauge size 43, with a decimal diameter of 0.0890 inches. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it is designed for heavy-duty drilling in ferrous metals and hard alloys. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on contact, enabling accurate starts without a center punch. A tapered web configuration and web-thinned geometry reduce thrust requirements. With an overall length of 2.25 inches and a 1.25-inch flute length, this bit is suited for precision hole work in tight tolerances. Licensed contractors and machinists working in production or maintenance environments are the primary users of this series.
The 41713 is built for use in cast iron, stainless steel, and carbon steel applications. Its regular spiral flute geometry provides efficient chip evacuation in these materials. The straight-cylindrical shank with a 1.0000-inch shank length seats securely in standard drill chucks and collets. Series 150ASP-TN bits are rated as high-performance, heavy-duty tooling and are frequently deployed in aerospace, industrial maintenance, and fabrication environments where NAS 907 Type B compliance is required. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional drill press and hand-drill applications.
Designed for use in cast iron, stainless steel, and steel workpieces. Compatible with standard drill chucks and collets accepting a straight-cylindrical shank. Conforms to NAS 907 Type B specification for interchangeability in compliant tooling systems.
This bit is installed and used by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and licensed tradespeople using drill presses, CNC equipment, or handheld drill motors. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify chuck key removal before powering the machine. Do not exceed recommended feed rates or speeds for the workpiece material, as TiN-coated HSS bits are susceptible to heat damage from excessive feed force. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit; use external cutting fluid when drilling stainless steel or cast iron to manage heat and extend tool life.
