The CHICAGO-LATROBE 41680 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for heavy-duty drilling in ferrous and hard metals. Built from high speed steel with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers extended tool life and reduced heat buildup compared to uncoated HSS bits. The bit carries a wire gauge size of 10, equivalent to 0.1935 inches in decimal, and features a 135-degree split-point tip that starts on contact without a center punch. Overall length is 3.625 inches with a flute length of 2.4375 inches. Licensed HVAC techs, plumbers, pipefitters, and general tradespeople reach for this bit when drilling cast iron, stainless steel, and carbon steel in production or field applications.
This bit is suited for drilling cast iron, stainless steel, and steel in both shop and field environments. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard 3-jaw drill chucks and compatible quick-change systems. The regular spiral flute geometry and web-thinned, tapered web configuration improve chip evacuation and reduce axial thrust, making it practical for hand drills and drill presses alike.
