The CHICAGO-LATROBE 41615 is a jobber-length drill bit designed for heavy-duty metal drilling applications. Built from high speed steel (HSS) with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers increased surface hardness and extended tool life compared to uncoated HSS bits. The 135-degree split point reduces walking on contact and lowers the thrust required to start a hole, making it well suited for hard or work-hardened materials. At 3-7/8 inches overall length with a 2-5/8-inch flute, this bit fits standard jobber-length chucks and is sized at 15/64 inch (0.2344 inch decimal). It is installed by machinists, maintenance technicians, and trade professionals who need consistent hole quality in ferrous and hard metals.
The 41615 is intended for production and maintenance drilling in cast iron, stainless steel, and carbon steel workpieces. The two-flute right-hand spiral design with a tapered web and web-thinned point clears chips efficiently in both hand-held and drill-press setups. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard three-jaw chucks.
